KPMG has published a report into the state of golf tourism in 21 countries around the world. KPMG's report indicates that Scotland and Ireland are facing competition from resorts in Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Dubai. That's a prediction rather than a fact. Spain and Portugal are blessed with fine weather and shorter travel times than Dubai and Turkey – although of course it depends on your starting point. Dubai is expensive with an average green fee of 121 Euros – but consider that Gran Canaria has green fees around the 100 Euro mark to put this into perspective. The cheapest destination, in terms of green fees, and so long as the report is not already out of date, is South Africa. Whatever the average in Scotland is, it should be borne in mind that there are hundreds of courses which charge only a modest fee of around £20 to £50.Home More Business Stories Search News Story Submissions
