The latest tourist attraction in Scotland is darkness. This might seem a trifle unusual but desperate times call for desperate measures. The concept is that there are large areas of Scotland which are sparsely inhabited and which therefore are not blighted, if that is the word, by manmade illuminations at night; streetlights, cars, factories, houses, shops, offices. Also, and this is no surprise to those of us who live here, it rains a lot. The rains can be looked upon as cleaning the skies at night. So, as long as it isn't raining and you are in an an uninhabited area then the stars at night are a wonderful sight. For millions of city-dwellers Scotland presents an opportunity to see the skies as they have never seen them. Hence "Dark-Sky Parks" will be created.Home More Business Stories Search News Story Submissions
